The Bride’s Speech

November 20, 2012

I’m officially Mrs. Lim! Hui Jen and I feel privileged to be sharing our day with all of you who have been important in our lives. I’m really grateful that my eldest sister, Hooi Lee and her family are here with us today, and also my dearest friend, Alina Foo, who came all the way from the US.

Thanks to all of you for the effort and sacrifices you have made to be with us today. There are so many of you whom Hui Jen and I want to thank for helping us. We really appreciate all your hard and sincere work.

I want to thank God for my wonderful parents. They’ve seen me grow up, they’ve helped me develop and mature into the person I am today. After having spent the past 28 years watching my parents and how they lived their marriage, I began to understand. They have gone through happy times and not so happy times. They have had misunderstanding and miscommunication, yet through it all, they were there for each other and work things out together. It’s from them I learned the meaning of marriage. Marriage is not just about love. It’s about having someone who will always be there for you through the ups and downs of life.

In raising me, my parents never forced me to achieve good grades or to make lots of money. After I graduated from high school, they didn’t stop me from pursuing my dream as a Graphic Designer. When I decided to work full time in church, they didn’t disagree with me. Because of this, I know that they always want the best for me. Mommy & Papa, I hope I’ve made you proud and made all your hard work worthwhile. I will always love both of you and will cherish the values that you have thought me.

Today I also gain another set of parents. Uncle Alan & Aunty Corine, it is for the first time now I call you Dad & Mum. Thank you for welcoming me into your family.

And to my youngest sister, Hooi Xian, and my bridesmaid, Aun Ling, congratulations on your engagement!

Lastly, I want to thank God for my beloved husband. Since young, my life has been surrounded by girls. I grew up with 3 sisters and I studied in Convent School for 11 years. No doubt, I am very shy among the guys. In year 2007, I accepted the Lord and I met Hui Jen. Hui Jen has captured my heart by being exactly who he is. In these 5 years, we saw the strengths and weaknesses in each other. Every day is like an adventure. When I look back, so many things had come together to bring us to where we are today.

Hui Jen, thank you for loving me and accepting me for who I am. You have believed in me and you have shown me how to love unconditionally. I love you.

Ladies & gentlemen, this toast is to our GOD, to my gorgeous husband, and to my wonderful families!

Deluxcious Hotel is an ideal place for picking up the bride. There are ample car parks and ample space for gate crash games. Go for Room 109 because it has direct access to the garden.

Look at him. Anxious?

Pr. Kenny conducting our ROM

“Ah, confirmed. Don’t have to think further.”

Serious-nya. Lol.

My turn to sign. Look at him again. So relief? Haha.
