A New Chapter of Life

December 31, 2008

Today marks the last day of 2008, the last day of staying at Auntie May’s place and also my last day of work at MAA. Reflecting upon these 2 years, I am blessed to have great bosses, great colleagues, and a nice place to stay (no doubt I still complain at times). Tonight, people will be celebrating new year and I will be doing all the packing and moving things. It’s sad to say goodbye and I dislike this feeling. There’s mixed feelings in me right now. I’m going to miss all my dear colleagues and my room mate.

Thank you, MAA!

O God, cheer up my heart in spite of this mixed feelings I am going through. Strengthen me in this new year. Help me to see things through Your eyes and to accomplish whatever that shall be done according to Your will. This is the path I have chosen and there’s nothing to be sad about. I wanted to take this road and You have opened the doors for me. I thank You for the smooth transition and for leading me step by step.

Thank You for this new chapter of life and may it be filled with joy, excitement and success.

A Blessed New Year to all!

Blessed Birthday Dear!

December 29, 2008

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for Hui Jen. Thank You for bringing us together, far or near, through Jesus Christ our Lord. O God, as his days increase, continue to bless him, grant him wisdom and knowledge and guide him in every areas of his life. Watch over him wherever he may be, strengthen his trust in your goodness all days, comfort him when discouraged, raise him up when he falls and may his heart, mind and soul be filled with your joy and peace. May this coming year be the one that brings success, fulfillment and accomplishment for Hui Jen. This I pray in the name of our loving Lord Jesus Christ. AMEN.

Blessed Birthday Dear!

Blessed Christmas to all!

December 22, 2008

Dear Readers,

May this season help us remember the birth of Jesus, that we may share in the song of the angels, the gladness of the shepherds, and the worship of the wise men. Let kindness come with every gift and good desires with every greeting.

Blessed Christmas & A Happy New Year to all once again!

Dec 9, 2008 – CAC organized to do another charity work, this time it’s a visit to Penang Cheshire Home. It was part of CAC’s community annual activity. Our objective is to cheer and to bring joy to the disabled as we velebrated and early Christmas with them. It was indeed and eye opener for some of us who visited Cheshire Home for the first time. It was great to see them greeted us happily despite of their condition. This year, we baked a Christmas log for them. We were honoured to have Mrs. Dorethy Park, who came all the way from England to join us in this celebration yearly. Although the celebration ended within 2 hours, we were glad to see smiles on their faces and we hope to bring more joy in years to come!

Nasi Ulam from Penang Best (my team). Okay, since it’s from my team, allow me to elaborate a bit on our creation. We came out with a modernized Nasi Ulam wrapped in Chinese white cabbage, served with sweet curry prawns and starfruit. It’s a healthy dish, not too spicy which caters well for children, folks and caucasians. We incorporated starfruits in the curry to help promote our local fruit in cooking. The beautifully wrapped Nasi Ulam and ingredients used reflects the multiculturalism in Malaysia.

Simplest among all with no vegetable carvings coz we don’t know how to make one

The herbs used: kaffir leaves, lemongrass, bunga kantan, salted fish, dried shrimp, onions, cashew nuts, raisins

Penang Food Fest 2008

December 5, 2008

Penang Food Hunt 2008 & Food Bazaar

Date: 6 & 7 December 2008
Venue: Various places including New World Park, ending at the Esplanade

Penang is famous for its street food. Locals and foreign tourists are often confronted with dizzying choices. It is also home to a wide variety of traditional and intercultural cooking traditions like the Nyonya, Indian Muslim, Eurasian, East Asian and British Colonial cuisines, to name a few.

Penang Food Hunt 2008 (PFH2008), like the inaugural event in 2007, will see hunt enthusiasts coming from all over the country to discover more about Penang and its food while engaging themselves in activities that will test various skills including food preparation.

This year, PFH will be complemented by a food bazaar at New World Park. There will be cooking competitions by students and the public, demos by Penang’s best and a special kiddies cooking workshop. There will also be various food stalls showcasing the multiethnic culinary delights.

Avery Returns – Part 2

December 4, 2008

Last Tuesday, Xian and myself went to Queensbay Mall to meet up with Avery again. She was asleep when I saw her. Then I saw Hooi Lee and Huan, Mummy and Papa. Huan ate Mexico bun again! I think it was his 3rd Mexico bun within that week (2 from Rotiboy and 1 from Papa Roti). Haha, I absolutely agree with Rotiboy’s tagline, “One is never enough… buns to die for!”

Sleep.. sleep.. no temptations from Rotiboy.

Avery’s moody on that day. She laughed, she cried, she screamed, she acted cute and sometimes she is quite naughty too. Her Ah Kong (Granpa) panic when she cried.

But ya, she’s really one of a kind. We brought her to the playground and you could see how excited she was. The 6 adults (Grandpa, Grandma, Huan, Hooi Lee, Xian and myself) enjoyed looking at her playing and laughing away.

Honk! Honk!

Yay! Bus driver is here. Who wants a ride?

Granpa even bought her a ticket to enter into the Kids Smart Wonder World whereby she can climb, run and walk safely.

Vroom.. vroom.. Avery’s coming, give way please…

Avery: Nope, don’t touch my sticker. I want it to be on my forehead.

Don’t you think I look cute?

Dancing with her Mommy

Avery: I need some make up and touching up please…

And all

Heavenly Father,

Thank You for the gift of loving and being loved and for the abundance joy we shared as a family. Thank You for bringing us together, far and near. Although it is just a short one, I am blessed for all You have given. Lord, I pray for journey mercy as Huan, Lee and Avery travel back to Bermuda. May Your hands of protection be upon them throughout the journey and keep them safe from all dangers. May You continue to bless them in every areas of their lives. In Jesus precious name.

AMEN.

Moments with Avery

December 1, 2008

This is my first time meeting with Avery in person. She’s such a lovely, adorable, funny and cheeky baby girl. Although I only managed to spend about 2 days with her, it seems like we have known each other for a long time. I hope she enjoys her stay here and will always remember Aunty San!! Haha.

I am going to miss you Avery!
