More Wisdom

June 30, 2008

I felt the pain since last Tuesday and it is still painful today. This time it is the bottom left which hurts. Sometimes, it hurts till I can hardly open wide my mouth. Ouch! In fact, I have all my wisdom teeth already but they are not fully grown. Probably 3/4 grown. I have to be very careful with the things I eat. More water and less heaty food for now. I’m gonna miss Milo for sure. I guess I have had too much of it for the past few days hence I had flu and a slight fever yesterday. I hope that there is enough space for my wisdom tooth to grow that I do not have to extract it. Please keep me in prayers. Thank you.

She has plenty of photos with various expressions but I have never seen one like this. It all started from this photo. Her ‘mi mi xiao’ inspires me. It makes me laugh and it helps to cheer up my day. I simply love it. Such an adorable niece :)

And while I was viewing through her photos again, I suddenly felt like drawing. Yeah, it has been a while since the last time I held a pencil and draw. And guess what? I just realized my stationery holder (in my office) doesn’t have a pencil! So, I went around asking for a pencil and it seems like there are only 2 pencils!! So, I ’stole’ one from my colleague and started to sketch *tee-hee-hee*. It made me so excited to see the outcome and I completed it this morning.

Oh boy… I just can’t wait to see her photos again; her funny and cute expressions. It makes me excited and wanna squeeze her and hug her tightly. And I miss Mommy dearly. Her hair is long now. I haven’t spoken to her for quite some time. The only time we get to talk to each other through Skype is during weekends. And for the rest of the time, we keep in touch by emailing one another and I really miss her. Can’t wait for her to come back with Cher and family :)

Anyway, I am so glad to receive an email from baby Avery this morning. Imagine a 6-month-old having her own email account. Haha! She is so adorable. She sent me her latest photos of her trip to Quebec City and Toronto with her Grandma, Mommy and Daddy. There are 55 new photos! Thank you, Avery :) And here are some of my favourites.

McD Sundae Cone

I have this almost every week. It’s my once-a-week-dessert. Love the creamy and soft texture. Of all the McD I have been so far, I like Tesco’s coz the generous staff gives me more ice cream compared to other places. Haha. In fact, I only like the ice cream but not so much of the cone. Anyway, for merely RM1 each, I enjoy eating it :D And for the 1st of every month, it is only 50 cents!!

A Conversation Between Prayerful and Prayerless by John Piper

Prayerless: I understand that you believe in the providence of God. Is that right?

Prayerful: Yes.

Prayerless: Does that mean you believe, like the Heidelberg Catechism says, that nothing comes about by chance but only by God’s design and plan?

Prayerful: Yes, I believe that’s what the Bible teaches.

Prayerless: Then why do you pray?

Prayerful: I don’t see the problem. Why shouldn’t we pray?

Prayerless: Well, if God ordains and controls everything, then what he plans from of old will come to pass, right?

Prayerful: Yes.

Prayerless: So it’s going to come to pass whether you pray or not, right.

Prayerful: That depends on whether God ordained for it to come to pass in answer to prayer. If God predestined that something happen in answer to prayer, it won’t happen without prayer.

Prayerless: Wait a minute, this is confusing. Are you saying that every answer to prayer is predestined or not?

Prayerful: Yes, it is. It’s predestined as an answer to prayer.

Prayerless: So if the prayer doesn’t happen, the answer doesn’t happen?

Prayerful: That’s right.

Prayerless: So the event is contingent on our praying for it to happen?

Prayerful: Yes. I take it that by contingent you mean prayer is a real reason that the event happens, and without the prayer the event would not happen.

Prayerless: Yes that’s what I mean. But how can an event be contingent on my prayer and still be eternally fixed and predestined by God?

Prayerful: Because your prayer is as fixed as the predestined answer.

Prayerless: Explain.

Prayerful: It’s not complicated. God providentially ordains all events. God never ordains an event without a cause. The cause is also an event. Therefore, the cause is also foreordained. So you cannot say that the event will happen if the cause doesn’t because God has ordained otherwise. The event will happen if the cause happens.

Prayerless: So what you are saying is that answers to prayer are always ordained as effects of prayer which is one of the causes, and that God predestined the answer only as an effect of the cause.

Prayerful: That’s right. And since both the cause and the effect are ordained together you can’t say that the effect will happen even if the cause doesn’t because God doesn’t ordain effects without causes.

Prayerless: Can you give some illustrations?

Prayerful: Sure. If God predestines that I die of a bullet wound, then I will not die if no bullet is fired. If God predestines that I be healed by surgery, then if there is no surgery, I will not be healed. If God predestines heat to fill my home by fire in the furnace, then if there is no fire, there will be no heat. Would you say, “Since God predestines that the sun be bright, it will be bright whether there is fire in the sun or not”?

Prayerless: No.

Prayerful: I agree. Why not?

Prayerless: Because the brightness of the sun comes from the fire.

Prayerful: Right. That’s the way I think about the answers to prayer. They are the brightness, and prayer is the fire. God has established the universe so that in larger measure it runs by prayer, the same way he has established brightness so that in larger measure it happens by fire. Doesn’t that make sense?

Prayerless: I think it does.

Prayerful: Then let’s stop thinking up problems and go with what the Scriptures say. Ask and you will receive. You have not because you ask not.

When I first heard of wombats, I thought they looked like some sort of wild boar or some fierce creature. I wasn’t so interested in seeing them compared to koalas and kangaroos. But it totally changed my mind when I met them!! I was over excited when I saw how cute they were. They look somewhat like a bear plus koala. Oh well.. indescribable of how adorable they actually were. Haha!

Aren’t they cute? They are waiting to be fed.

Wombats are mammals and herbivores. They walk with a somewhat awkward, shuffling or waddling gait. Although they appear to be slow, wombats are very alert and can move quickly with great agility when needed.

They ran towards me. Maybe because they knew I was holding food.

According to an article, it was stated that despite wombats’ thickset body and stubby legs, they can run up to 40 km/hr (25 mph) over short distances. They can cover 100 meters (325 feet) in less than 10 seconds which is as fast as the fastest Olympic sprinters! Amazing, huh? :D

While it was once thought that wombats weren’t very bright, it’s now generally accepted that they are quite intelligent. They are, however, very stubborn and determined, and since they’re so strong–built like a tank or bulldozer–they will often go through an obstacle rather than around it (haha!). They’ve been known to go through doors, walls, or anything else that stands in their way. That’s probably one of the reasons why they were once considered simpleminded.

Playfulness is sometimes cited as a measure of intelligence. Wombats are the most playful. Play will often include head butting, bitting, and running away to solicit a chase. When running, a wombat may “indulge in shoulder rolls and somersaults.” Wombats often use biting to express their feelings, usually in a playful manner with no intent to injure.

Haha.. so what do you think about wombats? Cute isn’t it?

Feeding time! Come wombie..

The small one (far left) couldn’t reach the platform so it turned and walked away. Awww…

I miss wombies. Hope to visit them again one day :D

Back for Modern Jazz

June 17, 2008

Weee… I am back for modern jazz dance again after 2 months! Feel good about it. Though I am kinda soft in the steps, I enjoy the classes on every Sundays. And since classes are only once a week, I usually forget the steps, haha!. Eventually, I hope to brush up my skills and if opportunity comes, I would love to participate in more performances because it really helps me and encourages me to sharpen my dance steps. For those of you who have no idea what this dance is all about, here are the videos taken last year during our performances for some charity events. Enjoy:D

First performance in April 2007

Second performance in November 2007
